Blood donations & clean-ups: MHP corporate volunteering in 2022

24 january 2023,

In 2022, 2,383 MHP employees joined our corporate volunteer movement. This is a 35% increase on the the previous year, 2021. Back then, the number of unique volunteers was over 1,700. In contrast, in 2022, virtually every 11th employee participated in volunteer projects of MHP and СF «MHP-Gromadi». Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine has largely driven this increase in volunteers with MHP employees rising to the challenge of overcoming the problems thrown up by the conflict.

The activities themselves have also changed. The traditional annual MHP Donor Days, cleaning up areas and planting trees, supporting vulnerable people, preparing gifts for the holidays were joined by work in humanitarian headquarters, assembling and delivering food packages, making camouflage nets, helping mobilized colleagues, IDPs and everyone in need, organizing numerous fundraising events and many more.

“Last year, the company changed its approach to the concept of corporate activities. We developed a Corporate Volunteering Policy. It gives all employees an understanding of the level of values that support volunteering at MHP. At the same time, we joined projects not because we were asked or it was a trend – people initiated it themselves, took responsibility, started projects in areas where they saw their own ability to help, and were supported by management and other colleagues. Therefore, in 2023, we are resolved to continue supporting our colleagues in their desire to do good deeds and unite for this purpose,” comments Pavlo Moroz, Director of the Corporate Social Responsibility Department.

Among the most numerous projects supported by MHP employees were:

– Clean-up Days  – 974 employees,

– MHP Donor Day – 635 employees,

– Gifts for children for the New Year and St. Nicholas Day – 311 people,

– Production of tinned stews – 145 employees,

– Humanitarian Hub at MHP’s office in Kyiv – 113 employees.

In total over four thousand volunteers took part with many participating in a number of projects: for example, they donated blood and joined the distribution of humanitarian aid or initiated planting potatoes with colleagues for local IDPs.
