Myronivka Community and the MHP-Hromadi Charitable Foundation Allocate UAH 3 Million for Residents’ Projects

19 may 2026

The Myronivka Territorial Community has received 15 applications for its “Public Budget” project competition, which enables residents to initiate local development projects and directly influence community priorities. The Myronivka City Council will allocate UAH 2 million to implement the winning initiatives, while an additional UAH 1 million will be provided by the MHP-Hromadi Charitable Foundation.

The “Public Budget” initiative engages residents of the Myronivka community in decision-making processes and ensures equal opportunities for both the city and surrounding villages. Cooperation with charitable foundations helps maintain a transparent mechanism for submitting ideas, public voting, and project implementation. The competition launched this spring and has already attracted 15 project proposals from local residents.

“For us, the Public Budget initiative is about trust, genuine public participation, and a transparent mechanism for allocating municipal resources,” said Dmytro Zhukotanskyi, First Deputy Mayor of the Myronivka Community. “In partnership with charitable foundations, we are building a community that develops together with people and for people.”

The MHP-Hromadi Charitable Foundation joined the coordination of the initiative and allocated UAH 1 million to support the competition.

“It is important for us to support ideas that emerge from within communities themselves. That is why we invest in social, educational, cultural, and infrastructure initiatives that create long-term value for residents,” emphasized Volodymyr Zabela, Director of the MHP-Hromadi Charitable Foundation. “This competition continues our long-standing cooperation with the Myronivka community. Our Foundation already implements medical, cultural, sports, and social initiatives here, helps attract grant funding, and runs microgrant competitions that bring local residents’ ideas to life. Supporting veterans is also one of the key priorities reflected in these projects.”

Together with partners, the MHP-Hromadi Charitable Foundation developed the community’s Development Strategy, created a detailed roadmap, and continues to support its implementation.

Technical and mentoring support for the “Public Budget” competition is provided within the Swiss-Ukrainian EGAP Programme implemented by the East Europe Foundation. The EGAP Programme ensures the digital component of the public budgeting process. Residents use the e-DEM platform to submit projects, vote, and monitor implementation progress.

The participatory budgeting programme will run from 2026 to 2028. Every spring, residents will submit and present their initiatives, select winning projects, and oversee their implementation between May and September, with results evaluated in October.

The experience of the Myronivka community demonstrates that when local authorities, residents, and charitable foundations work together, communities gain funding, trust, and meaningful public influence over local development.
