On November 17-18, 2021, the Interregional Forum for Exchange of Experiences “Enhanced Partnership for Sustainable Reconstruction and Development” was held, which brought together representatives of 9 winning projects of the Partnership for Socio-Economic Initiatives from the Government of Sweden and UNDP in Ukraine “Enhanced Partnership for Sustainable Development”.
Lviv, Poltava, Vinnytsia, Ternopil, Khmelnytsky, Zhytomyr, Cherkasy and other regions presented their projects. Colleagues talked about how to organize a business for young mothers, how to start cycling, how to build a safe infrastructure in a small town, how to give life to a mobile laboratory for schoolchildren, how to create a cooperative movement in rural areas or transform the plant into a modern platform for development.

Among the winners of the competition was the project “Rural Development and Counteraction to the COVID-19 Pandemic through the Promotion of Small and Micro Entrepreneurship”, implemented by the Sustainable Development Fund “MHP – Community” in conjunction with the Regional Development Agencies of Cherkasy and Vinnytsia regions. Its director Tetyana Volochai shared, in particular, the experience of implementing a competition of microgrants for the development of small business “Village. Steps to Development ”, in which 24 start-up businessmen from Vinnytsia and Cherkasy regions received grants of up to UAH 50,000.

“The 2020 pandemic not only affected many areas of life, but also gave impetus to new challenges and opportunities. For example, the MHP-Community Foundation has come to understand that communities need significant business support to overcome the effects of the coronavirus, most notably assistance in creating new jobs. Therefore, our micro-grant competition was the start for 24 business ideas implemented, as well as taught people who planned to start their own business, write business plans and conduct calculations correctly, “said the director of the Foundation. – The uniqueness of this project is to create a sustainable partnership and adapt sustainable business models to the challenges of entrepreneurship in rural areas. This competition was launched to teach people not to be afraid, not to despair, but to start a business and develop their communities, “said Tatiana.
As a result of the project, the level of rural migrants decreased and the first steps were taken to increase the level of economic growth in rural communities. In rural areas, the number of successful stories and examples of entrepreneurship has increased, which has made it possible to promote small and micro-entrepreneurship in communities.
