KOZAK SYSTEM: the band in cooperation with MHP invites everyone to a major solo concert People-Titans
On November 9, 2024, the legendary Ukrainian band KOZAK SYSTEM will give its long-awaited concert in the Palace of Sports, Kyiv.
The event’s key message – Together to victory! – is about the importance of cooperation between the home front and the front line. It is not about some abstract “together we stand” but about that very cooperation when the home front supports the front line with all available resources.
Ivan Lenyo, the band frontman, always notes during their performance:
“The army can win the battle but it is the people who win the war. However, to win the war, the home front must be proactive, not just “we’ll wait and see”. All Ukrainians must see and realize the enemy nature and make daily efforts to bring our victory closer: engage in volunteering, support the military, promote Ukrainian culture and language, etc.”
During the three years of full-scale invasion, the band toured Ukraine and gave more than 300 concerts. KOZAK SYSTEM performed not only in large concert halls but also at railway stations, bomb shelters, and village libraries.
Their concerts are dialogues with the audience and constant improvisation. When performing the “Spring has returned to Kherson” song, the band always invites the residents of the temporarily occupied territories to the stage, with the “Azovstal” song – relatives of the indomitable Mariupol defenders, with the “People-Titans” song – dedicated to wounded soldiers – the audience holds its breath, with “Manifesto”, they all chant the words pointing the direction for the Russian warship, and the voices of the audience and musicians united while singing the “Ukrainian sun” have already become a symbol of Ukrainian strength and invincibility.
Between concerts, Ivan Lenyo talks about his experience of living during a full-scale war, creative work, and losses. In 2022, Hlib Babych, a bandmate and author of many songs, was killed in action. Ivan recalls all the military he supports, shares real cases from the front line invites veterans to the stage, and talks about important joint projects implemented in cooperation with MHP and the MHP-Gromadi Charitable Foundation.
This cooperation was started due to the long-term friendship between the band and MHP, and their common values, the main one being the aid and support provided to Ukrainian defenders. Since the beginning of the full-scale war, the band and business have jointly aided more than 30 armed forces brigades with ammunition, drones, equipment, machinery, etc. Ivan Lenyo personally deliveries aid to the military. The military appreciates his trips to them not only for songs but also for sincere support, empathy, and the desire to feel needed.
The band’s major solo concert at the Palace of Sports will be a kind of “semicolon” in this stage of KOZAK SYSTEM’s creative activities, the ultimate distillation of all 300 concerts held in the three years since the beginning of the full-scale war. The organizers believe that this concert is not an ordinary event in the country’s cultural life. It is a huge wave of unity to involve every Ukrainian and inspire to new achievements.
