Ukrainian Cultural Foundation and MHP-Gromadi Charitable Foundation entered into a Memorandum of Cooperation and Partnership
On Tuesday, December 17, Ukrainian Cultural Foundation and MHP-Gromadi Charitable Foundation entered into a Memorandum of Cooperation and Partnership intended to promote the development of the cultural and creative industries in Ukraine. The document was signed by Anastasia Obraztsova, Executive Director of Ukrainian Cultural Foundation, and Oleksandr Pakholiuk, Director of MHP-Gromadi Charitable Foundation.
The Memorandum is aimed at strengthening support for cultural and artistic initiatives in communities outside agglomerations and regional centers, encouraging people to create a high-quality cultural product, and ensuring equal access to cultural services.
Anastasia Obraztsova, Executive Director of Ukrainian Cultural Foundation, expressed hope that the Memorandum will facilitate Ukrainian communities to become centers of cultural life, improve cultural ties, and design projects intended for the cultural revival of regional initiatives.
We at UCF observe a crucial need to further strengthen partnerships between the state and socially responsible Ukrainian businesses to ensure long-term support of culture, therefore, we continue our activities to find and attract new partners. To discover the communities’ cultural capacities, to make culture in the regions accessible and close to the residents, and to ensure the opportunity to create, develop, and be inspired – this is the objective of the signed document. I am grateful to MHP-Gromadi for their support of local cultural initiatives.
According to the agreements reached, the parties will cooperate, in particular, to implement the joint “Culture in the Community Focus” LOT (subprogram) of the grant program of Ukrainian Cultural Foundation “Culture. Regions”. The program’s objective is to support and promote the creation of new relevant cultural and artistic projects that will strengthen Ukrainian identity in wartime, show the world the resistance of the Ukrainian people against Russian armed aggression, support the spirit of our struggle for freedom and independence of Ukraine, and support veterans and their families.
Oleksandr Pakholiuk, Director of MHP-Gromadi CF, emphasized that allowing access to such funding for community projects is an important step to strengthen and shape Ukrainian identity. That said, most transformational changes are currently taking place in communities: from discovering local history to launching important local initiatives.
MHP-Gromadi Charitable Foundation has been working in communities for 10 years and changing lives for the better. Culture is an integral component of regional development, and it is also a means of resistance nowadays. It is the foundation allowing us to preserve historical memory, national traditions, and spiritual values that unite society and that our military are defending. Therefore, we as a Foundation engaged in the development and restoration of communities, see the launch of joint initiatives with such a powerful partner as UCF as an incentive for further scaling and growth.
It should be recalled that Ukrainian Cultural Foundation (UCF) is a state investor in the development of cultural and creative industries in Ukraine. The institution was established in 2017 under the Law of Ukraine “On Ukrainian Cultural Foundation”. Support for individual, national, and international cultural and artistic projects is carried out on a competitive basis within seven sectors: audio art, visual art, audiovisual art, cultural heritage, literature, performing and stage arts, cultural and creative industries. During seven years of its operation, Foundation has financed 2,717 projects. The amount of funds invested is over UAH 1.6 billion, and the number of the audience covered by Foundation is 53 million people.
MHP-Gromadi is a Ukrainian charitable foundation that launched its activities in 2015 to help communities solve their social, economic, and environmental issues. Foundation operates in 13 regions of Ukraine and in over 700 cities and towns. Since the beginning of russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Foundation has been systematically supporting people in the war zones: Ukrainian defenders, communities; charitable institutions that care for orphans and the elderly; and people who have lost their homes and livelihoods due to the war. One of the important vectors of Foundation’s operations is supporting cultural initiatives (publishing books, producing movies, helping local museums, etc.). Since the beginning of the full-scale war, MHP-Gromadi has allocated more than UAH 80 million for the said.
