A charity performance of ‘Servant of Two Masters’ took place at the Ivan Franko National Academic Drama Theatre in Kyiv.
Directed by David Petrosyan, the play was staged to support the soldiers of the 13th Khartiia Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine. As part of an auction held on the brigade’s second anniversary, the MHP-Gromadi Charitable Foundation purchased a charity lot for one million hryvnias.
“It was a wonderful opportunity not only to spend a warm evening with friends, but also to make an important contribution to a shared cause — supporting our soldiers who fight every day for Ukraine’s freedom and future. Art inspires, and collective action unites. That is why we decided to support the Khartiia Brigade through an event that blended culture and volunteerism. For us, this is not a one-time gesture, but part of a long-term, systematic effort to assist our defenders. Together, we are stronger,” – says Oleksandr Pakholyuk, Director of the MHP-Gromadi Charitable Foundation.
‘Servant of Two Masters’ is a witty comedy in the commedia dell’arte style, telling the story of a servant who tries to serve two masters simultaneously, constantly landing in humorous situations. With dynamic acting and live music, the performance delivers energy and inspiration, encouraging the audience to live, fight, and win.
“Today, each of us must be part of the great struggle for life and freedom. There is only one formula: on the front line or for the front line. Our struggle is in our daily actions, donations, gatherings, and charity performances. Helping the army is not just an act of goodwill — it is a duty of dignity. We have no right to tire; we must only move forward,” – says Yevhen Nyshchuk, General Director of the Franko Theatre
The funds raised through the charity auction have already been used to purchase a FlyEye 3 UAV, a high-performance aircraft-type reconnaissance drone that will significantly enhance aerial surveillance capabilities for the Khartiia Brigade.
The event was attended by employees and partners of MHP and the MHP-Gromadi Charitable Foundation, alongside representatives of Khartiia. The opening speech at the screening was delivered by Khartiia’s Junior Lieutenant, Oksana Syroid.
Khartiia is the only unit of the Ukrainian Defence Forces that evolved from a volunteer fighter unit of the territorial community into a combat brigade. Its combat journey began in spring 2022, during the Ukrainian counteroffensive near Kharkiv, which led to the expulsion of Russian occupiers across the state border.
In March 2023, Khartiia officially joined the National Guard of Ukraine, forming the 13th Operational Brigade. It has combat experience in the Svatovo direction, the Serebryansky Forest, and Bakhmut.
In May 2024, the brigade played a pivotal role in stopping a second Russian offensive on Kharkiv and now continues to defend the Kharkiv Region from occupation.
