UAN8 Million for Cultural Development in Communities: National Competition Launched by UCF and the MHP–Hromadi Foundation

05 march 2026

The Charitable Foundation “MHP–Hromadi,” in partnership with the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation, has announced the launch of the competition “Cultural Routes of Communities.” The total budget of the LOT amounts to UAH 8 million.

The initiative covers communities across Ukraine (excluding temporarily occupied territories, regional centers, and the city of Kyiv) and aims to create cultural and educational routes as a tool for territorial development.

Applications will be accepted from March 5 to April 5, 2026.

Culture as Development Infrastructure

“Cultural Routes of Communities” is a program supporting initiatives that create cultural and educational routes as a comprehensive product of a community. These routes are based on local heritage, traditions, history, and contemporary creative solutions.

Within the competition, a route is viewed as a well-designed system with a clear concept, map, meaningful content, service components, and digital tools. Its creation requires cooperation among local authorities, cultural institutions, creative teams, businesses, and community residents.

“Cultural routes combine heritage and creativity, transforming local stories into high-quality products. Such initiatives attract tourists and stimulate the development of local small businesses. By continuing our partnership with responsible business, we expand opportunities to support systemic solutions while maintaining high standards of transparency.”

Anastasiia Obraztsova, Executive Director of the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation

The program helps communities structure their cultural resources and turn them into tools for territorial development. A route strengthens local identity, supports tourism, and creates opportunities for small businesses and creative industries.

Projects may include interactive maps, mobile applications, VR/AR features, and multimedia solutions that make cultural experiences accessible to wider audiences.

Special attention is given to frontline and recently de-occupied communities.

“Communities have a strong cultural foundation. Our task is to help make it visible, systematic, and accessible. ‘Cultural Routes of Communities’ creates a space for cooperation and development that works in the long term. The initiative brings together the resources of business, cultural institutions, and local governments to form sustainable cultural infrastructure in communities.”

Oleksandr Pakholiuk, Director of the Charitable Foundation “MHP–Hromadi”

Funding and Conditions

Grant amounts range from UAH 500,000 to UAH 1 million.
Mandatory co-financing must be at least 10% of the total project budget.

  • Legal entities of all forms of ownership;

  • Individual entrepreneurs registered in Ukraine for at least one year with experience in the cultural sector.

Initiatives in the fields of cultural heritage and creative industries are supported, including cross-sectoral projects.

Systemic Partnership

“Cultural Routes of Communities” is implemented within the framework of a partnership between the MHP–Hromadi Foundation and the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation, established in 2025.

Last year, under the LOT “Culture in the Focus of Communities,” cultural projects were supported in various regions of Ukraine. These initiatives demonstrated a high level of community engagement and readiness to work with heritage as a strategic development resource. Projects united local authorities, cultural institutions, and creative teams around shared solutions.

The new competition continues this direction, focusing on cultural routes as a systemic tool for territorial development. In 2026, partners will support projects that structure community cultural resources and create long-term growth opportunities.
