Bird Nesting Boxes Installed in Ladyzhyn as the Community Joins the “Wings of Hope” Charity Initiative

The family eco-art event “Wings of Hope” took place at the Ladyzhyn Arboretum with the support of the MHP-Hromadi Charitable Foundation. Residents installed handcrafted bird nesting boxes, took part in family activities, and contributed to a charity fundraiser in support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The initiative originated with students of the Woodworking Workshop at the Spadshchyna Creativity Centre. Together with their mentors, the children built bird nesting boxes, while the MHP-Hromadi Charitable Foundation supported the workshop by providing professional power tools and materials.

MHP environmental specialists joined the initiative, helping identify the most suitable locations for installing the nesting boxes based on birds’ habitat requirements. As a result of this collaborative effort, new safe nesting sites for beneficial bird species have been created across the Ladyzhyn region.

The “Wings of Hope” event brought together parents and children, veterans, and local residents around a shared environmental initiative.

“For MHP, caring for the environment means taking practical action. In the communities where we operate, we combine professional expertise, strong partnerships, and active community engagement in environmental initiatives. Projects like this help preserve biodiversity while fostering environmental awareness and responsibility among children. Meaningful change begins with collective action,” said Andrii Bavol, Biodiversity Specialist at the Department of Sustainable Development Methodology and Implementation in the Technological Sphere.

Children enjoyed a range of creative activities, including bird-themed drawing sessions, arts and crafts, and writing letters of appreciation to Ukrainian service members. Visitors also participated in sports activities, workshops, face painting, and a musical programme. A charity fundraiser in support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was held throughout the event.

“We believe it is important to support initiatives that originate within local communities. Projects like these bring together people of all generations, help turn local ideas into reality, and create communities where people want to live, raise their children, and build a shared future. This is what sustainability looks like in practice, creating lasting value for local communities,” said Volodymyr Zabela, Director of the MHP-Hromadi Charitable Foundation.

The “Wings of Hope” initiative was implemented with the support of MHP enterprises in the Ladyzhyn region, the MHP-Hromadi Charitable Foundation, Ladyzhyn City Council, the Spadshchyna Creativity Centre, MHP environmental specialists, the NGO YUNI, and local community members.
