Until recently, pupils at Kynashiv Gymnasium had just five computers for their computer science lessons. Today, the school has a fully refurbished classroom with modern equipment.

The upgrade was carried out as part of a project selected as one of the winners of the Time to Act, Ukraine! social initiatives competition run by the MHP-Hromadi Charitable Foundation. The total cost of the project was UAH 200,000, of which UAH 100,000 came from the Foundation and over UAH 100,000 from Kynashiv Gymnasium.

“This project means a great deal to us. An upgrade like this would have been difficult to achieve on our own, so we are grateful for the opportunity to take part in the competition and receive support. For today’s children, access to good-quality equipment and the chance to develop digital skills are essential,” said Oleksandr Dehtiar, Head of Kynashiv Gymnasium.

With 106 pupils at the school, the existing equipment was not enough for every child to work properly at a computer during lessons. This gave rise to the idea of upgrading the computer room: creating a space where pupils would not just hear about digital technology but use it themselves, complete tasks and build practical skills.

“By supporting initiatives like this, we aim to help communities bring to life ideas that reflect their real needs. Upgrading a school classroom is an investment in children and in the conditions they learn in today, and at the same time a contribution to the opportunities they will have in the future. Projects like this show how, by working together, we can transform a community’s learning environment,” said Volodymyr Zabela, Director of the MHP-Hromadi Charitable Foundation.

The classroom has been fitted with desktop computers and everything needed to use them: keyboards, mice, speakers and webcams with built-in microphones. The room itself was also redecorated, making it a comfortable place for learning and hands-on work.

The upgraded classroom is already opening up new opportunities for around 120 pupils, as future generations of students will also benefit from the equipment.
