MHP and the MHP-Gromadi Charitable Foundation support The Will to Win project and Volia Space at the Olympic Games
MHP and the MHP-Gromadi Charitable Foundation supported The Will to Win project and the Ukrainian House Volia Space at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. This initiative, led by the Office of the President of Ukraine in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine and the NOC of Ukraine, aims to showcase to the world the Ukrainian will to win, which Ukrainians continue to demonstrate even amidst the full-scale russian invasion.
For the first time, the Ukrainian House was opened at the Olympic Games, with Volia Space serving as Ukraine’s media and cultural hub during the event. The venue hosted a range of activities, including events featuring Ukrainian athletes, artists, and officials. Daily programs included screenings of documentaries about the war in Ukraine, digital cultural projects, and meetings with members of the Ukrainian national team.
“The Ukrainian House is open to guests from around the world and is ready to showcase not only the culture and achievements of our country and its sporting successes, and to introduce famous Ukrainians, but also to show the realities of life for every Ukrainian during the full-scale russian invasion,” said Matvii Bidnyi, head of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine.
One of the projects presented at the Ukrainian House, with support from the MHP-Gromadi Charitable Foundation, was the multimedia project The Will to Win. This initiative was launched by the Office of the President of Ukraine, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the National Olympic Committee, and the “Watch Ukrainian!” Association, with the backing of the Ukrainian World Congress, the Ukrainian American Coordinating Council, and other organizations.
The Will to Win features a photography exhibition and a series of six short documentary films highlighting the resilience of Ukrainian athletes. Despite the dramatic challenges of war, personal losses, and suffering, these athletes showcase their determination to the world. The project includes the stories of Viktoriia Onopriienko, a Ukrainian gymnast and Olympic finalist in Tokyo; Zhan Beleniuk, a Greco-Roman wrestler and Olympic silver medalist; and Oleksandra Paskal, an eight-year-old gymnast who lost a leg in the 2022 russian attack on Odesa, among others. The project aims to emphasize the unwavering spirit of Ukrainians, reflecting the theme of Ukraine’s participation in this year’s Olympic Games.
“This partnership has created a powerful platform for showcasing Ukraine on the international stage during the Olympic Games. It allows us to highlight not only the achievements of our athletes but also to reveal the realities faced by Ukrainians during the war, symbolizing the resilience of the entire nation. It sends a clear message to the world: despite the current challenges, Ukraine can both defend its borders and win medals, as this embodies our identity and steadfastness,” said Pavlo Moroz, Director of Corporate Social Responsibility at MHP.
