MHP Run4Victory Cherkasy Marathon medal ribbon inspired by the work of People’s Artist of Ukraine Mykola Telizhenko

02 september 2026

On 19–20 September, Cherkasy will host the first marathon in the city’s history, the charity MHP Run4Victory. 100% of registration fees and donations will go towards the rehabilitation of veterans at the Dnipro Medical and Sports Centre. Every finisher will receive a medal and ribbon combining symbols of Cherkasy with artistic motifs inspired by People’s Artist of Ukraine Mykola Telizhenko.

The first marathon in the history of Cherkasy will be organised by MHP, the MHP-Hromadi Charitable Foundation and sports organiser NewRun.

The medal and ribbon incorporate symbols closely associated with Cherkasy and the wider region. The medal features two of the city’s most recognisable landmarks: the Slovianskyi Hotel and the Bohdan Khmelnytskyi monument.

The ribbon design was inspired by the work of Mykola Telizhenko, People’s Artist of Ukraine and the creator of the Cherkasy city flag and the coat of arms of Cherkasy Region. Symbolically, 2026 has been declared the Year of Mykola Telizhenko in the region.

A ribbon that brings the cultural heritage of Cherkasy Region closer

Runners from across Ukraine will take part in the event. Through the ribbon and the QR code printed on it, organisers will give participants an opportunity to discover more about Mykola Telizhenko’s work. The code leads to the artist’s virtual museum, where visitors can explore his art, legacy and distinctive paper-cutting technique known as vytynanky. In this way, a race keepsake gains another purpose: introducing people to the cultural heritage of the region.

“For my father, Cherkasy Region was never simply the place where he lived. It was a source of images, symbols and meaning. It is especially important to me that today his work continues to live through new formats and reaches people who may not have encountered it before. Here, it also becomes part of a charity event that helps veterans return to active life. I believe that would have meant a great deal to him,” says Olesia Telizhenko, the artist’s daughter.

A medal as a symbol of contribution to veterans’ recovery

All registration fees and donations raised through MHP Run4Victory will go towards the rehabilitation of veterans at the Dnipro Medical and Sports Centre. There, veterans receive physical and psychological rehabilitation, take part in sports and work towards returning to active life after injury.

“For us, it is important that participation in MHP Run4Victory has meaning beyond the finish line. Our medal is both a reminder of the distance completed and a reminder that taking part contributed to veterans’ recovery. By bringing together a charitable purpose and cultural symbols, we unite people around shared values and give more Ukrainians an opportunity to better understand their own cultural heritage,” says Volodymyr Zabela, Director of the MHP-Hromadi Charitable Foundation.

MHP Run4Victory is being held for the third consecutive year. In May, more than 7,000 participants joined the Kyiv race to raise funds for prosthetics for Ukrainian defenders. The Cherkasy race will focus on veterans’ rehabilitation.
