More than 155,000 households will get seed packs from philanthropists

On February 15, MHP started its annual Sowing Seeds with MHP campaign, which provides thousands of families with sets of high-quality seeds. This year, we plan to reach more than 155,000 households. This is 40,000 more than in the previous year. The packs include seeds of beets, radishes, parsley, courgettes, carrots, cucumber, and a mixture of patriotic blue and yellow asters.

The campaign is aimed at landlords of MHP enterprises in small towns and villages, whose main mission is to support food security in the regions by providing people with quality seeds and, as a result, a good harvest.

“Every year, our initiative helps to overcome a number of challenges. In 2020, in the midst of sowing and spring gardening, markets and shops were inaccessible, and deliveries were disrupted or cancelled. For people in the regions, this project helped them survive this crisis. “In 2022, the challenges were even more difficult: some territories were just de-occupied, others had an increased demand for seeds due to the increase in IDPs in communities and the desire to grow more of their own products, and the initiative coped with these tasks,” commented Tetiana Volochai, director of the MHP-Gromadi , which organised the campaign.

This year, the issue of food security is not going away, as the war continues. So the project initiators set out not only to continue it, but also to increase the number of participants to give people the opportunity to prepare for the next winter.

Seed packs will be distributed in the following regions: Volyn, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Ternopil, Khmelnytsky, Zhytomyr, Vinnytsia, Kyiv, Cherkasy, Chernihiv, Sumy, Dnipro, and Poltava.

Last year, the seeds distributed under the initiative covered more than 310 hectares from the Volyn to Dnipro regions. More than 11 tons of crops were harvested from these areas, from which 2,875,000 twists were made.
