OHMATDYT HOSPITAL RECEIVED MULTIFUNCTIONAL EQUIPMENT THAT MAKES BLOOD TEST IN 1 MINUTE

17 december 2022,

The National Children’s Specialized Hospital “Ohmatdyt” of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine has received three new analyzers, which will speed up blood test results, from the “MHP – Gromadi”. charitable foundation. The equipment will be used both in the outpatient clinic for quick examination of patients and at field consultations in the de-occupied territories and in small settlements without hospitals.

“Over the past 6 months, we have conducted 30 on-site consultations. A whole group of children’s doctors, from ENT, ophthalmologist, orthopedist to gynecologist and psychologist, went to the de-occupied cities of Zhytomyr, Kyiv and Chernihiv regions. We managed to examine more than 3,000 children. Based on the results of this large-scale project, we realized that in order to provide more effective assistance, to diagnose illnesses and prescribe effective treatments, we need mobile equipment with which we can do medical tests quickly and in situ,” explains Olga Medvedeva, head of the pediatric department of the Ohmatdyt National Children’s Hospital.

Therefore, the medical institution turned to philanthropists for help to purchase three analyzers (hematological, biochemical and electrolyte analyzer) with a total cost of more than UAH 1.1 million.

“These powerful analyzers will make each visit of our doctors more efficient and effective. For example, the hematological analyzer makes it possible to conduct an extended blood test for 23 parameters in just 1 minute. The biochemical analyzer has a capacity of more than 200 tests per hour. All this will make it possible to conduct a full examination of the patient in record time and prescribe treatment in time, which is extremely valuable for rural areas or de-occupied territories,” adds Volodymyr Zhovnir, CEO of Ohmatdyt.

One of the settlements to be visited by the multidisciplinary visiting team in the future will be Ladyzhyn, Vinnytsia region. In the summer, 2,500 internally displaced persons lived in the city with a population of more than 20,000 inhabitants, almost 1,000 of them were children.

“Today it is important to help communities not only with food, clothes or other material things, but also to make quality medical services available. The war has destroyed the existing chains of medical care, increased the pressure on both central and regional medical institutions. Yet disease does not rest and it is vital that the medical tests are done quickly to ensure we can catch it quickly and prevent any long term damage to children’s health. After all, they are the next generation around whom we must build our future,” said Yuriy Melnyk, Deputy Chairman of the Board of MHP, which financially contributed to the purchase of this multifunctional equipment.

Currently, mobile teams are almost the only method of bringing advanced medical techniques to villages and small towns. Together with advanced equipment, they will provide high-quality diagnostics with prescriptions based on confirmed tests and professional advice.
