Veteran and Internally Displaced Entrepreneurs From the Catering Industry Can Receive Grants of Up to UAH 100,000
The Do Your Business with Kurator, HoReCa business idea contest, is starting on September 22. It aims to support businesses affected by the war and businesses fostered by the Ukrainian military. The contest organizers are the MHP – Community Charitable Foundation and the Kurator brand.
Veterans, internally displaced persons, and businesses affected by Russian aggression will have a chance to receive funding to support their catering projects. The organizers will allocate UAH 1 million to award the best ideas.
The contest will invite entrepreneurs from the HoReCa industry (hotels, restaurants, catering) to showcase their business ideas. Representatives of Ukrainian small and medium-sized businesses from 13 regions of Ukraine, including Vinnytsia, Volyn, Dnipropetrovsk, Zhytomyr, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kyiv, Lviv, Poltava, Sumy, Ternopil, Khmelnytskyi, Cherkasy, and Chernihiv regions can participate.
“Our ‘Do Your Business’ idea competition has scaled significantly this year. In spring, together with the Ukrainian Veterans Fund, the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine provided grants for veterans and their families as part of the #Worth Doing Your Business project, supporting businesses in different regions. And now we are launching another contest for the catering industry. Such a demand for grants proves that Ukrainians are willing to work, create jobs, and fill local budgets. And with our expertise in this area, we are ready to provide comprehensive support for the development of local businesses,” Tetiana Volochai, Director of the MHP – Community Charitable Foundation, said.
By the instrumentality of microgrants, entrepreneurs will be able to launch new businesses and scale or relocate existing ones. The business ideas submitted to the contest are to meet some important requirements: they must be innovative, involve job creation, and have a socio-economic impact on the community. The experts of the Do Your Business with Kurator contest will choose up to 10 winners from the applicants, who will each get up to 100,000 UAH for their businesses.
After the contest starts, the organizers will help participants fill out applications during webinar consultations.
“Micro-entrepreneurship is the key to economic recovery in war-torn areas and a major driver of Ukraine’s prosperity in general. MHP is building systemic support for small and medium-sized businesses in the HoReCa sector. We promote the education and training of qualified personnel, offer product solutions that optimize kitchen processes, and build partnerships with the Ukrainian HoReCa industry. The Do Your Business with Kurator contest is a continuation of such systematic work. We see a rapid growth of micro-bakeries, coffee shops, shawarma shops, and other fast-food outlets in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, and other cities, catering to the needs of busy consumers. And we are ready to support the initiatives that want to continue with their development,” Nataliia Shadchnieva, Head of MHP’s HoReCa Development Center, commented.
