About the Foundation

MHP-Hromadi is a Ukrainian charitable foundation established in 2015 to support communities in addressing social, economic, and environmental challenges. The Foundation operates in 13 regions of Ukraine and works in more than 700 localities.

MHP-Hromadi cooperates with international and Ukrainian donors, including the United Nations Development Programme in Ukraine, ISAR “Yednannia”, the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), USAID, the Embassy of Japan in Ukraine, and Zagoriy Foundation, implementing joint development, educational, and cultural initiatives.

The Foundation has received the highest five-star rating in the National Philanthropy Rating Compass of Ukrainian Charity, organized by the Association of Ukrainian Philanthropists. Projects such as “Cinema for Victory!” and “Shelters: The Armed Forces Hold the Front — We Protect the Safety of Their Children” became winners of the national social initiatives ranking Responsible Country.

History

2024 — Support for Communities, Entrepreneurship, Culture, and Veterans

The Foundation focused on community development, support for local initiatives, entrepreneurship, education, and culture. Within “Time to Act, Ukraine!”, 150 projects were implemented with a total budget of UAH 44 million. Under “Start Your Own,” 110 entrepreneurs received funding to develop their businesses.
Within the “MHP Standing Together” program, UAH 58.7 million was allocated to support military personnel, veterans, and their families. The Foundation initiated a series of social medical projects — “Health Savings,” “Doctor for the Village,” and “Take Care of Your Health” — enabling more than 10,000 community residents to receive medical examinations.
A series of charity runs MHP Run4Victory, organized by the Foundation, engaged over 4,000 participants. Donations provided equipment for five combat brigades worth UAH 2.8 million.
Together with the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation, the “Culture in the Focus of Communities” competition was implemented with a total budget of UAH 10 million.

2023 — Strengthening Grantmaking and Support for the Military

The Foundation continued to support communities through grant competitions aimed at developing social entrepreneurship and improving quality of life. Under the “Start Your Own” competition, 80 business ideas were supported with over UAH 74 million, while 149 social initiatives received UAH 13 million under “Time to Act, Ukraine!”. A comprehensive support program for military personnel, veterans, and their families was launched. The Foundation’s activities were confirmed by a positive audit opinion from PwC Ukraine.

2022 — Focus on Support During Full-Scale War

Following the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, the Foundation focused on humanitarian support for the military, internally displaced persons, children, the elderly, and medical institutions. More than 114,000 seed kits were distributed within the “Sow Seeds with MHP” campaign. The “Time to Act, Ukraine!” social initiatives competition was held.
Together with the Nasha Ryaba brand and the Kateryna Osadcha Foundation, over 40,000 jars of baby food were provided to vulnerable groups. In autumn, the Foundation contributed to equipping 75 shelters across 8 regions, with total funding exceeding UAH 6.6 million.
The Foundation received national recognition, earning the highest five-star rating in the Compass of Ukrainian Charity ranking.

2021 — 900 Projects Worth UAH 108 Million

The Foundation implemented more than 900 projects across four areas: human capital, capable communities, ecology and energy efficiency, and public health. Key initiatives included “Open-Air Cinema”, the “Time to Act, Ukraine!” and “Village: Steps Toward Development” micro-grant competitions, and continued implementation of “Green Planet with MHP” and “Doctor for the Village.”

2020 — Expansion of Nationwide Projects

New projects were launched, including “Sow Seeds with MHP”, “Green Planet with MHP”, and “Cooperation of Cherkasy and Vinnytsia Regions” to respond to COVID-19. New Active Longevity Centers were established, and open-air cinema screenings began. The “Time to Act, Ukraine!” micro-grant competition became available to all communities where MHP operates. Partnerships with international donors were expanded.

2019 — Nationwide Expansion and Rebranding

The nationwide environmental flash mob “Plant Your Walnuts” was recorded in the Ukrainian Book of Records. The first all-Ukrainian micro-grant competition “Community Prosperity” was held. The STEPHUB Personal Development Center was established with the support of Bayer. By the end of the year, the Foundation expanded nationwide and was renamed MHP-Hromadi.

2018 — Social Programs in Health, Demography, and Ecology

The Foundation joined the national Women’s Health program and, together with government partners, opened a preventive diagnostics office in Zvenyhorodka. The “Doctor for the Village” initiative and the “Leleka” support program for young families were launched. The first environmental festival with plogging elements took place in Lipliawe village.

2017 — Initiatives for Children and Youth

The scientific and educational project “Science League” for rural children was launched. Cooperation with the volunteer movement Help & Travel began. Educational visits for high-school students to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine were organized. The “Time to Act” program continued to expand.

2016 — First Grant Initiatives and International Partnership

The first grant project was implemented in cooperation with the Cherkasy Regional State Administration. The “Time to Act” micro-grant competition was launched. With the support of the Monsanto Fund and the Eastern Europe Foundation, an Active Longevity Center was opened in Cherkasy. A study visit for village heads to Poland was also organized.

2015 — Foundation Established

In 2015, the Urozhai–Community Charitable Foundation was established. Its activities began in communities of the Cherkasy and Kyiv regions, where the MHP Group’s enterprise “Urozhai” operated.
