Aiding War-Affected Children: Joint Initiative of MHP-Gromadi Charitable Foundation and Okhmatdyt

14 november 2023,

Diabetes, allergies, eating disorders, and anxiety: these are some of the health issues that Okhmatdyt doctors have identified as being exacerbated by war in children, as part of the Health Moneybox Project. The occupation, displacement due to the war, exposure to gunfire, living in shelters and basements without basic sanitary conditions and access to clean drinking water, and chronic stress – all these factors are impacting the health of Ukrainian children now and will have long-term and costly repercussions for the country as a whole.

Recognizing this, in May 2022, the doctors of National Children’s Hospital “Okhmatdyt” initiated on-site examinations for children in the territories that the Armed Forces of Ukraine have liberated from the occupiers. In February 2023, MHP-Gromadi Charitable Foundation supported the doctors’ initiative by procuring equipment for the medical team, thereby enhancing their diagnostic capabilities beyond hospitals and laboratories.

According to Tetiana Volochai, Director of MHP-Gromadi Charitable Foundation, the project, aptly named “Moneybox of Health”, is aimed at children from low-income families, those evacuated from war zones, and children with special needs.
