11 april 2024,

On April 10, the new season of Time to Act, Ukraine!, the grant competition for communities’ local initiatives, was launched. This year, civil society organizations, municipal companies, and charitable foundations from 13 regions will be able to attract a total of more than UAH 14 million for their initiatives.

All-Ukrainian competition of social initiatives Time to Act, Ukraine! is held for the ninth year in a row by MHP-Gromadi Charitable Foundation. Its mission is to make communities places where people wish to live.

“The main mission of this competition is to make community residents realize that their projects and activities are important and that we can introduce changes acting together. It is of particular importance nowadays, during a full-scale war, when there are too many factors and events beyond our control. However, we still can gradually introduce changes at 100%, at our place: create a comfortable youth environment, supply libraries with books and museums with new exhibits. Our charitable foundation is ready to support active communities,” explained Tetiana Volochai, Director of MHP-Gromadi Charitable Foundation.

The main objective of Time to Act, Ukraine! competition is to support local social initiatives implemented by active community residents in response to the war challenges: from veteran hubs to inclusive environments, from equipping shelters to initiating rehabilitation programs. Local self-government bodies, municipal companies, medical and educational institutions, non-governmental organizations, and public associations can submit their projects. Each initiative group can receive a total of up to UAH 100,000 for its project.

In terms of geography, the competition covers the cities and villages of Vinnytsia, Volyn, Dnipropetrovsk, Zhytomyr, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kyiv, Lviv, Poltava, Sumy, Ternopil, Khmelnytsky, Cherkasy, Chernihiv regions, and the city of Kyiv.

“This year, the priority areas of the competition are veteran support and the creation of conditions for their reintegration and rehabilitation. Initiatives related to culture will be in focus, as usual, because the preservation of traditions and heritage remains an urgent task nowadays. We will support system projects related to education, health care, and infrastructure, or promote public space as well as energy security development. The said shapes the community, allows its residents to develop, and sets the environment people wish to live and create in,” added Volodymyr Panchenko, National Projects Manager of MHP-Gromadi Charitable Foundation.

Another mandatory condition for participation is the project co-financing on the part of the applicants to the competition. The contribution should at least amount to 50% of the expected funding provided by Foundation.

Project applications for the competition are accepted from April 10 to May 12, 2024. Applications can be submitted on the competition website. Please, feel free to address your questions regarding filling out the documents to the organizers at timetoact@mhp.com.ua

The winners will be announced on June 20, 2024.
