Ukraine is home to approximately 5000 museums, each unique in its own way. However, they all share a common challenge – a scarcity of funding. This issue is particularly acute for rural institutions. Despite this, thanks to the dedication of local enthusiasts and patrons, small museums continue to evolve even amidst the war. Three notable examples are highlighted below.

The distinctive Museum of Trypillian Culture, which was established on the site of the Trypillian metropolis and the world’s largest Copper Age settlement, the Museum of Vyacheslav Chornovil, a distinguished politician and one of the architects of Independence, and the Museum of Leontovych, the composer of the globally renowned Christmas melody “Shchedryk”(Carol of the Bells), all received support from MHP-Gromadi Charitable Foundation.

The first museum project undertaken by MHP-Gromadi was the reconstruction of a large entrance group at the National Museum of Folk Architecture and Life in Pyrohiv, which was inaugurated in May 2022.
